Valley Geothermal and Heating designs and implements "green" heating and cooling solutions for its residential and commercial customers by putting the earth's intrinsic heat to work inside homes and businesses. Unfortunately, their branding needs were not being served by any cohesive design. Having been created as an offshoot from another company, it had a growing client list and great reference-based business growth, but for direct marketing, an identity was needed.

The principal of Valley Geothermal contacted Notchcode to create a one-off ad for use in a renewable energy resource guide. In the process of creating the ad, Notchcode focused on building a brand identity that Valley Geothermal could use successfully in many applications.

The logo that resulted from this effort shows a red sun rising over a cool blue valley, symbolizing both the literal name of the company, but also the exchange of heat from the sun to the earth, and back into the home.
