The National Education Association wanted to tell America about one of the issues that was in danger of getting passed by in the 2004 elections: education. To that end, it called on the Carol/Trevelyan Strategy Group (CTSG) to help spread the word online. And CTSG called on Notchcode to make the NEA's case in print. Working both with CTSG and with the NEA directly, Notchcode's staff was able to create an Action Kit for the September 22nd, 2004 House Parties that were to be held nationwide in the homes of NEA supporters.

First came a call to action at the NEA's big conference in mid-summer: a multi-panel brochure that set the stage and made the case to get involved. buttons and posters were also distributed. The Action Kit came next, with 4,000 mailed directly to initial reponders. These Action Kits contained posters and flyers to promote the House Party, reminder magnets, tip sheets on writing to legislators and editors, fact sheets, modifyable templates and many other useful resources. A companion website was also launched by CTSG, using many of the Notchcode-developed templates as well.

The House Party event was a great success: over 3,600 parties hosted tens of thousands of participants. They helped gather momentum to support pro-education ballot measures in many communities and states, as well as support pro-education candidates at both the local and national level. The materials Notchcode created helped CTSG and the NEA to win a "Pollie" from the American Association of Political Consultants in 2005 for Issue Advocacy.
